COCK TALK IN THE DRESSING ROOM

There’s been some good cock talk happening in the dressing room tonight. Strip club dressing rooms are like girls’ night out on crack. Our minds and conversations are far dirtier than a men’s locker room or most professional kitchens (chefs are an intense breed). It’s one of my favorite things about being a stripper. I’ll miss the shit out of it when I’m really done. It’s like nothing else, cathouses excluded. We crack jokes, talk about sex, men, and orgasms (having them and faking them). We share funny stories from the club, of which there is an endless supply. It can get weird in the dressing room, including the occasional hookup amongst the girls. But by weird, I mean amazing. This level of amazingness varies depending on how much booze is being swilled and how the night is going. This is true for every strip club dressing room around the globe. The worst and best nights will yield the most incredible dressing room status. We get hyper to the extreme. The original Girls Gone Wild. Strippers are a magical group of people. I know we get a bad rep because people think there are constant cat fights and backstabbing, but behind that curtain, we’re mostly like the best all-girl sleepover you can imagine. There’s a bond that forms amongst dancers that’s similar to war vets. We’re in the trenches together, battling wandering hands.

We are each unique individuals, linked in this sisterhood. Television shows and films only scratch the surface of what we do and who we are. It’s a misunderstood industry. For example, you might have an image of me after reading all this crazy and personal shit. You might think I’m a nut, but face-to-face, I’m quite normal. I’m serious; stop smirking. Strippers and sex workers operate on a different level of openness and pure, raw energy. We put our shit out there. What I’m saying is, it takes tenacity, je ne sais quoi, and a bold personality to do what we do. It takes heart, a level of intelligence, and the intestinal fortitude of the emotionally lobotomized to do it for as many years as I have.
